BeThe Baggs AEG-1 Acoustic Electric Guitar is the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to high-performance acoustic amplification, all rooted in the craftsmanship of a luthier. Our founder and master luthier, Lloyd Baggs, began his journey as a guitar maker, creating instruments for artists like Ry Cooder, Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, and Janis Ian. His deep respect for the guitar evolved into a quest to faithfully amplify his own instruments for live performance.

After years of studying the physics of acoustic instruments and pioneering advancements in pickups and electronics, the AEG-1 is the realization of everything we’ve learned about acoustic sound and amplification. Lloyd’s dual expertise as a luthier and a pickup designer allowed us to craft a guitar and its electronics in harmony, finely tuning the system for this instrument. With its remarkable acoustic properties, we were able to successfully amplify the AEG-1 with our most accurate system yet — the revolutionary HiFi Duet. Equipped with our award-winning HiFi Bridge Plate Pickups and our studio-quality Silo Microphone, the AEG-1 is versatile for any stage, big or small.

Cutting-edge inset top and back
LR Baggs’ AEG-1 boasts a cutting-edge foundation that merges solid tonewoods and composite materials. To start, the AEG-1 features a solid Sitka spruce top supported with scalloped X-bracing, offering all the touch-sensitive feel and dynamics you’d expect from a typical acoustic guitar. The top is then paired with a solid rosewood back for enhanced low-end depth and treble chime. However, these traditional tonewoods are installed in a thoroughly non-traditional manner, with both the top and back inset into the poplar composite sides. This forward-thinking design is finished off with a custom integrated neck support structure, all coming together to supply you with an awe-inspiring acoustic response from this thin, compact instrument.

HiFi bridge plate pickups
The AEG-1’s HiFi Duet electronics system is built around a set of HiFi bridge plate acoustic guitar pickups. This set of pickups captures every bit of your AEG-1’s natural unplugged detail, all without compromising its resonance and vibration. The result is an exceptional acoustic-electric tone with superb tone, balance, definition, and dynamics.

Top-shelf Silo mic
Next, the AEG-1 comes equipped with a Silo mic to bolster your plugged-in tone with studio-quality sound. The Silo leverages the company's Tru-Mic technology, employing a newly designed microphone capsule and tuned suspension for enhanced ambience and dimension. You also get outstanding isolation and feedback resistance, ensuring an ear-grabbing experience wherever you plug in.

Studio-grade preamp
To tie the AEG-1’s HiFi Duet electronics system together, LR Baggs included an all-discrete, studio-grade preamp with a multi-pole crossover system. This setup blends the HiFi pickups and Silo Mic together flawlessly, certifying an inspiring result in any mix position. Beyond that, this preamp includes Volume, Mix, Battery Check, and Mic Level controls. Whether you're aiming for a punchy, direct sound or an airy, studio-miked sound, the HiFi Duet is willing — and able — to oblige.
